Presented with 4 written quotes; the diagnostic project using our own interpretation and application of image generation of a selected quote.
"It is true that I was born in the West Country and grew up on the Welsh border and while I have Scottish blood on my mother’s side, I also have English, French and Flemish ancestry. However, when people try to make this debate about the purity of your lineage, things start getting a little Death Eaterish for my taste" J.K Rowling

A series of various ideas was vital to understand and help to create a visual representation of the it at hand. Initially i used the internet to gather information on the quote, finding out that the quote was from J.K Rowling an internationally known journalist and author. The subject matter was the Independence of Scotland her stand on the matter.
J.K Rowling made a substantial donation (£1 million) to the Better Together Campaign, which advocates keeping Scotland part of the United Kingdom.
Playing the "The word association game" created different and more obscure potential avenues of the direction of my work, which I then mind mapped to create links between themes.
The main Theme i wanted to look at was Scotland being only for the "Pure Bloods" people who have a completely Scottish linage/ancestry. The idea of this triggered my knowledge and interest of Dog breeds. I am extremely fond of our four legged friends but cant help dislike the interbreeding that occurs to create a pedigree.
I see this ideology of Pure Bloods being a little bit like the Dog Show "Crufts" as pedigrees are only allowed entry to the competition.

I wanted to illustrate a scene where Scottish breed dogs are removing or banishing a mongrel from their home .Playing on a Scottish stereotype that Scottish people are heavy drinkers, I decided the setting would be a Pub called the Queen's Head as it is a popular Pub name and also could be seen as pro independence and even treason.
During the creation of the piece I decided on changing the mongrel to a more recognisable english breed "British Bulldog".
I feel like was able to approach this quote with a more lighthearted final outcome through the use of style and theme.Given more time i would of liked to explore the idea of Rebuilding Hadrian's wall, a Roman fortified defence that segregated the land and people of Scotland.
